Beth Sogaard marries the food to the wedding

Not only is your wedding an important thing to plan but the reception can also be important, especially what food guests get to eat as they dance the night or afternoon away so choosing the right caterer can be a plus. That is where Beth Sogaard Catering in Plymouth can help.

“We actually try to take as much as we possibly can off of everybody's plate,” said employee Glory Thomsen of Placerville. “We do full service. We will design a menu with the client. We will coordinate and design and work with all the local services that they are going to need.”

She added if the client needs a bar service or some type of rental, the company can help with that and they actually remain on site and take care of the food from start to finish.

Open for 12 years, the company, located at 9393 Main St. in Plymouth can accommodate just about any food request.

“We work with people for a good six to 12 months,” Thomsen said. “I have had some that are short-lived where you have people come and they are getting married within two months and they are very panicked and so we try and book everything in and take care of everything as quickly as we can.”

She added there are clients that the company has worked with for two years and they ended up going over the menu several times making revisions before the actual wedding.

Thomsen said a lot of the times the clients come via email and she will go back and forth talking with people that she hasn't even talked to on the phone or met in person.

“I'll go back and forth with them for two months before we meet face to face,” she said. “But what we do is I ask them a lot of questions like guest count, what's you're wedding vision and style and what type of food service do you want? Are you looking to have a sit down, a buffet? Then I ask them to give me an idea of what kind of food they like.”

Thomsen added then they will go out to the market in Plymouth and get to meet with her and meet with the chefs and the chefs prepare the menu the client requested. The client then tastes the food and makes recommendations.
“At that point they pretty much have the menu set,” she said.

In addition to catering, the company also helps with finding locations for its clients.

“We have probably about 10 or 15 really great relationships with vineyards that we work with constantly,” Thomsen said. “A lot of the times they have already found the location but quite often they haven't so we try to give them a little hand holding there and send them in different directions.”
