In January 2004, Folsom Lake College received initial accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
January 2010, saw the college’s accreditation reaffirmed by the commission.
Folsom Lake College serves the community with classes offered at the main Folsom campus, two outreach centers (the El Dorado Center in Placerville and the Rancho Cordova Center), and various off-site locations in communities of the region.
A full spectrum of support services and programs are available to enhance student success, including: counseling, financial aid, tutoring, libraries and computer labs.

Folsom Lake College’s vision is to inspire excellence and provides educational opportunities to enrich and empower students.

The age demographic for the college is: under 18 — 1 percent, 18-20 — 32 percent, 21-24 — 24 percent, 25-29 — 12 percent, 30-39 — 18 percent, and 40 plus — 18 percent.
Students of all ages are welcome to pursue new knowledge and enhance knowledge. There is no age limit on learning.
