CLINICAL DIRECTOR and Nurse Practitioner Diane Bass, left, and OUtreach Director Diana Labelle-Kantola discuss the services available to people at El Dorado Community Health Center in Placerville. EDCHC has been around since 2003 and is a nonprofit corporation that has earned the title of a Federally Qualified Health Center. Doctors and nurses treat chronic and acute illnesses, as well as minor injuries and any other non-emergency medical issues that may arise. There are also behavioral health services and a clinical social worker on site. The center gives away certain resources such as tents, socks, gas station gift certificates and other items to help their patients in need. The center serves people from all over El Dorado and Amador counties. “We are very unique because we have a wide gamut of cultures and languages, and people choose to come here even if they have private insurance,” Bass said. “We may not be the fanciest place, but we have the basics and can provide top-notch healthcare.” El Dorado County Community Health Center is located at 4327 Golden Center Drive in Placerville.
