“We have a quick response time — usually same-day service — and have enough personnel to handle anything,” said Scoville. “All of our technicians are state-licensed and have a lot of experience. We’re not afraid to take on challenges in the industry.”
Since joining his father, Dick, and brother, Steve, in the family business in 1988, Scoville has helped the Pest Control Center (PCC) grow from two to 15 routes in the Sacramento area, as well as open five routes and a horticultural division in El Dorado County. PCC now services more than 7,000 customers in the Sacramento Region and employs 37 personnel company-wide. Currently, Steve is the president of the company and manages Pest Control Center’s Sacramento office. Scoville manages the Placerville office, located on Pleasant Valley Road, where he is proud to say the business has been situated for more than 30 years.
“Everyone knows the El Dorado ‘Y,’” said Scoville. “Being in the same location makes a big difference. Our customers like knowing exactly where we are.”
As a California state licensed full service pest and termite control company, Placerville Pest Control Center offers a wide range of both residential and commercial services.
“Ants are probably the biggest problem we see, but we have the resources to handle just about anything,” said Scoville. “In our horticultural division, we deal with a lot of tree disease and pests in trees. We also do lawn care and weed identification. I have a whole book for all of the weeds in El Dorado County.”
But it takes more than just a wide array of services to make a company great. The Pest Control Center is an active member of the Pest Control Operators of California (PCOC), “one of the largest trade associations this side of the Rockies,” and Scoville himself serves on the board of El Dorado County’s Invasive Weed Management Group. Being involved in the community and staying abreast on current information via PCOC allows Scoville and his technicians to know the best way they can meet customers’ needs.
“When we come to your house, we want to make sure you are taken care of,” said Scoville. “This means knowing the products we have to offer, making sure we get the right technician, and being a leader in technology and services. If you look at our list, you’ll see we offer a lot more products and services than anyone else out there.”
Another factor customers look at is longevity in the industry and feeling like they’re dealing with a company they can trust. At Placerville Pest Control, this is a given.
“At Pest Control Centers, we have almost 60 combined years of ownership in the pest industry. All of our technicians have been with the company for a long time — anywhere from two to 13 years — and live in this community,” said Scoville. “In addition, we strive to always treat our customers with respect and try to have fun here. We’ll also go the extra mile to give a little if we can help somebody. I don’t mind giving a discount if it’s for a good cause.”
