Savannah Abel-Smith, Union Mine High School
College: UC Davis, studying animal science and management, and economics
Career goal: Large animal veterinarian, I have wanted to be one ever since I can remember. I love being able to work outdoors and the challenge of treating animals.
Community involvement: I played soccer throughout high school. I was vice president of Leo Club, a National Honor Society member and a CSF member, all community service organizations. I also tutored many kids. I have been fortunate enough to be a part of four mission trips, all made possible by the generosity of the community.
Where I see myself in 10 years: I see myself being a large animal vet, and owning my own practice in El Dorado County. I would like to continue traveling and practicing veterinary medicine in third world countries.
