Silvano J. Gonzalez, El Dorado High School
College: Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I began with an intent to study environmental science, and I wanted to work in renewable energy; however, that has changed and I am now looking to change my major and to go into psychology.
Career goal: Originally I wanted to work in renewable energy, but after completing some general education courses and getting involved in some extracurricular activities at college, I have realized that I am more interested in and passionate about psychology. I now want to be educated in psychology at the graduate level, and either become a psychologist, go into research, or do both.
Community involvement: While attending high school, I tutored peers. Throughout high school I participated in several community service organizations including Toys for Tots for a couple of years, and I worked at Goldbud Farms on Apple Hill during the summers and other breaks from school. I worked there as a cashier.
Where I see myself in 10 years: With a graduate degree in psychology, and I feel that I will probably become a psychologist first and then look at going into research. I definitely want to see both careers and experience the lifestyle that comes with each one. I will work at whichever I choose with a keen interest and determination, and hopefully I will still have enough free time to develop my hobby of writing.
