Trevor Shamblin, El Dorado High School
College: University of Nevada, Reno, studying mechanical engineering
Career goal: Become an engineer. I am not sure exactly what I want to do with my engineering degree, but it’s a broad field and I will have a lot of options.
Community involvement: I have volunteered a lot. I played basketball in high school and spent a lot of time volunteering at youth basketball camps El Dorado put on. I volunteered as a head coach for a fifth through sixth-grade basketball team with the Placerville Recreation Department. I was also the counselor for a cabin of sixth graders at a week-long Outdoor Education camp with Pleasant Valley School twice. Overall I have volunteered about 400 hours in my community.
Where I see myself in 10 years: I hope to see myself as a professional engineer living back in El Dorado County where I grew up.
