The plan was a minute of court time and the stage was set for Ryan to drive through an open lane for a layup before taking a seat on the bench. The Trojans, aware of the plan, obliged but Ryan went off script and drilled a three-pointer from the wing.
Recovering, Ryan undertook the discus and shot put for the spring track and field team and excelled. Among her accomplishments were: winning the Meet of Champions; setting a school record for the shot put; the shot put Delta River League champ; coming in second at Masters’ and a state qualifier. Ryan was also the Girl Athlete of the Year for the Bruin program. She is now at the University of Portland.
Josh Hufford — Another big shot … by another Bruin. The Ponderosa-Oak Ridge basketball matchups pack ‘em in and records mean little. Hufford avenged an earlier 22-point loss to the Trojans by draining the winning 15-foot shot at the buzzer for a 52-51 win to spoil Oak Ridge’s Senior Night and erase the last of the Bruins’ 14-point fourth-quarter deficit.
