SHINGLE SPRINGS — Mike Brown, a Ponderosa High special education teacher who was an assistant coach on the Bruins boys basketball team for the last two seasons, passed away July 28.

“We have truly lost a great person in coach Mike Brown, but let’s be grateful that we all had the chance to be around such a wonderful person,” Ponderosa Athletic Director Tyson Escobar said in an e-mail to the Mountain Democrat. “He will truly be missed by us all.”
Brown’s funeral will take place 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 3235 Arden Way in Sacramento. A burial for family only will be held after the church services.
A repass dinner will take place after the funeral services at St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church.
