Ponderosa High student-athletes or their parent/legal guardians wanting to buy the best athletic apparel and save money can do so as Bruin athletic director Tyson Escobar has announced the school has signed a one-year contract with Eastbay Sports, an athletic apparel company that, according to its Website, is “a leading world supplier of athletic shoes, clothing and sports equipment.”

Throughout today to the start of the Ponderosa-Natomas football game at Simon-Bruin Stadium, Eastbay will have its 70-foot trailer lined with athletic apparel at the Ponderosa campus from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and again from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. The truck will be at the back black top at the players entrance near the football stadium.

“We get a significant discount that will help us purchase new uniforms, warm-up gear, for all of our athletic teams at a discounted rate,” Escobar said. “We can purchase Nike, Adidas, whatever each individual programs would like. We are lucky enough to have the Eastbay’s 70-foot trailer at our first home football game. I am very excited to check it out and for the kids to go through it.”

According to Escobar, Eastbay is expected to bring more than 200 shoes and a footwear fitting area. In addition, there will also be a photo booths, interactive athlete videos and more.

“It’s going to be very cool for our student-athletes to check out,” Escobar said.

Current Bruin student-athletes — whether their sport is in season or will be playing winter/spring sports — and their families can also receive a 20 percent discount if they purchase more than $100 of merchandise.

Escobar said current Bruin student-athletes aren’t obligated to purchase their athletic appeal from Eastbay.

For more information, e-mail Escobar at tescobar@eduhsd.k12.ca.us. To view Eastbay’s Website, go to eastbaysports.com.
