DAVIS — Sacramento’s Boca Jrs 95 girls’ soccer team placed first in the Davis Legacy Winter College Showcase last weekend.

The team, comprised of girls from the Sacramento, El Dorado, and Placer counties has climbed in the rankings this season to their top 10 position in Northern California. The girls are currently 10th out of 122 U16 teams listed in Northern California on the GotSoccer Ranking system.

Over 40 colleges were in attendance to watch the players in the weekend showcase. Boca’s defense consisting of goalkeeper, Dominique Fernandez, and the defensive line: twins, Melissa and Elena Hanson, Brittany Gisin, Savannah Droke and Emily Hansen, shut out the competition — not allowing a goal against them.

Boca’s offense played equally strong by outscoring every other team with seven goals in the Premier bracket. Leading goal scorers were Selena Brewer with three, Sheridan Fox with one goal and two assists, followed by one goal each by Marian Haarmeyer, Elizabeth Hutchinson and Jenna Mark. Elena added an assist.

The final score had Boca tied with Davis Legacy in points but goal differentials pushed Boca to the top.

In the opener against Cal Blues, Boca registered a 5-0 win. Against Sacramento United Extreme, Boca prevailed 2-0. The third game ended in a 0-0 tie.

The girls are preparing for their next showcase, the SC del Sol President’s Day Tournament, in Phoenix, Arizona Feb. 17-20, 2012 by competing in NorCal’s prestigious Regional Academy League (RAL) Winter season and the Nor Cal State Cup. The girls are also preparing for their high school seasons.
