Four divisions take to the red clay bullring for the fifth championship event of the season tomorrow. The winged sprint cars return with the limited late models, pure stocks and the visiting midget lites of the Bay Cities Racing Association.

This event marks the final night of regular championship action following a break for the Memorial Day weekend and a special event the following week.

In the winged sprint car division, Andy Forsberg’s lead is threatened by local favorite Andy Gregg of Placerville who trails by just three points.

Another local favorite, Jimmy Trulli of Placerville, has advanced into the top three, 15-points out of the lead while Mike Benson is fourth over Mason Moore who rounds out the top five.

Prior to the green flag this Saturday, fans arriving have the opportunity to visit with Penryn driver Charlie Cagle and his car up close at this week’s meet-and-greet when the gates open prior to racing.

In the Limited Late Model Division, Matt Micheli has advanced back into the point lead, three points ahead of 2012 Rookie of the Year Tom Tilford while Doug Grandboise is third, six points out of the lead. Duane Zeider is fourth ahead of Ken Micheli.

Pure Stock action has Les Friend maintaining a narrow point lead over Matt Tilford. Chris VanRoekel is third, 18 points out, while Scott Grunert is fourth followed by Tim Mack of El Dorado.

The three track regulars will be joined by the Midget Lites of the Bay Cities Racing Association. Look for point leader Marcus Smith to lead the field. Smith is followed in the standings by Brad Dillard, Stuart Gohering, Scott Kinney and Joey Hoover.

The grandstands open at 5 p.m. with qualifying starting at 6:30. Tickets will be available at that time Adult tickets will be $14, Juniors and Seniors will be $12, Children $6. A special pre-sale of grandstand tickets will take place at 3 p.m. at the track concession center to help alleviate long lines when the gates open.
