Titles went to the Vista del Lago girls and the Cosumnes Oaks boys. The Lady Cougars took second with the D’backs, fourth, while in the boys competition, host Union Mine was fourth and El Dorado, fifth.
Shade tents ringed the pool as did swimmers cheering on teammates. The top finalist from Friday’s trials were serenaded with a rock-an-roll introduction prior to Saturday’s race finals.
In winning both the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly races, D’back Jason Williams was the sole double event winner. Williams won the 200 comfortable but was pushed in the fly race by Cougar Matt Coen (54.46-56.36).
Union Mine had an individual distance winner in Devlen Whisler who took the 500 meter freestyle event by over 18 seconds.
El Dorado had one individual and one relay team place first. Individually, Marissa Garcia won the 100 backstroke and also teamed with Kyle Covington, Hannah Covington and Katryna Holifield-Helm to win the 200 free relay by less than a second over a team from Cosumnes Oaks.
Swimmers with qualifying times will race next at sections.
