The Placerville Dolphins swim team picked up its second win of the season and improved to 2-0 after last Saturday’s victory over the visiting Orangevale Tigersharks.

“Dolphins came to race. They were focused and posted many personal best times,” Dolphin coach Kristen Stumbaugh said.

The Dolphins dominated the 9-10 boys and girls 100 Free relays, as they set new team records. Members of the 9-10 boys relay are Mark Barsotti, Colin Carnahan, Daniel Owen and Simon Lathrop. The girls relay consist of Jordan Freer, Abby Sanders, Josie Phillippi and Haley Kline.

The Dolphins have a strong team this season with 260 swimmers — the largest team in seven years.

“There is a high interest in swimming in our community. The fact that we have grown by 100 swimmers in three short years is a testimony to that. It is exciting,” Stumbaugh said.

The Dolphins take on their strongest competitor this weekend when they travel to Auburn and race the Auburn Robalos.
