El Dorado Special Olympics has planned two upcoming fundraising events to benefit its growing program needs for the coming year.

On April 23, Special Olympics will team up with local law enforcement officials and Applebee’s restaurant in Cameron Park for the annual Tip-a-Cop program. Law enforcement personnel will wait on tables that day,  seeking donations to help fund the all-volunteer program that serves more than 150 athletes participating in nine sports year-round. For more information, call Shirley Surber at 530-642-0364.

On June 24, El Dorado Special Olympics will host its 11th annual Golf Tournament at Cameron Park Country Club. Golfers play 18 holes with a cart provided in a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m. A tri-tip banquet is included and 1st-3rd prizes. Cost is $150 per golfer. Raffle prizes and an auction will be included.

Special Olympics also is looking for business sponsors for the event. For more information, call John Truscelli at 530-417-2661.
