The clinic will feature 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist and current American Record Holder in the Women’s Discus, Stephanie Brown-Trafton leading up the coaching staff.
There will also be a strong staff of coaches assisting with clinic including Jeff Magley, Sacramento State University’s Head Throws Coach, Dave Popejoy, 1996 Olympic Hammer Thrower and all-time top thrower in the hammer at Stanford as well as Brian Masterson, 2nd all-time hammer thrower at Stanford.
Also assisting with the clinic are Mike Curry Head Coach for the Golden State Throwers & throws coach at Elk Grove High School, Dana Fahey & Ron Beach Cal Poly Track & Field alumnus, and Dave Mosbacher assistant throws coach at Ponderosa High School.
The clinic is being provided as an opportunity to expose boys and girls ages 12 to 18 in El Dorado County and outlying areas to the possibilities that Track & Field, more specifically Shot Put & Discus, can provide to students who may not have considered
it as a means to cover the ever increasing costs to attend college.
The focus of the clinic is to provide various levels of skills training and exercises in proper shot put & discus techniques and to allow young athletes to mix with Olympic level athletes that are living proof that it can happen if you are willing to give it a try and put in the work.
This year’s venue will also include an introduction to the hammer throw with demonstrations by Dave Popejoy and Brian Masterson as well as a break-out session for those interested in learning more about the hammer throw.
The clinic is $25 per athlete and includes snacks, lunch and a t-shirt for all participants. Space is limited to 50 participants and is on a first come basis.
Please contact Dave Mosbacher at 530-417-4211 or via e-mail at [email protected] to register and for space availability and any questions.
