Foothill Throwers to sponsor clinic

By December 6, 2010

SHINGLE SPRINGS — Dave Mosbacher and the Foothill Throwers are holding a clinic Saturday, Dec. 11, for shot putters and discus throwers at the Ponderosa High track facility.

The clinic is limited to 50 boys and girls from El Dorado County, ages 12-18, who are interested in throwing.

Five collegiate level throwing coaches will be on hand for the clinic, including 2008 Olympic gold medalist Stephanie Trafton and Sac State head throwing coach Jeff Magley.

“I’m just a parent who wants to introduce teens to some of the opportunities they have to help finance their college educations,” Mosbacher said. “The sport has many scholarships available for kids who are interested in throwing.”

The clinic will run from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday. Participants who own their own equipment should bring their discus and put.

The fee of $20 includes a T-shirt and lunch. For more information or to sign up call Mosbacher at 530-417-4211.
