Gold Dust tournament starts Thursday

El dorado #10 makes his move to the basket.

The annual Gold Dust boys basketball tournament starts Thursday.

The tournament, which was originally hosted by El Dorado High, is now played in two venues the first two nights and wraps up at El Dorado Saturday.

The Ponderosa boys will host Colfax in their brand new gymnasium Thursday at 7 p.m. Davis and Nevada Union will play the late game at 8:30.

The Cougars open their defense of their 2009 title  at 7 against Whitney at El Dorado, followed by Rosemont against Amador Valley at 8:30.

The losers of Thursday’s game take the court at 7 p.m. Friday at the same locations; the winners play at 8:30.

The game for seventh place is Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at El Dorado. The consolation championship is at 5, followed by the third place contest at 6:30 and the tournament championship game at 8.
