GARDEN VALLEY — Behind a devastating run attack led by Adam Sewell (10 carries, 120 yards, two touchdowns) combined with a defense that suffocated visiting Rio Vista, Golden Sierra was in control start to finish en route to a convincing 55-7 victory Friday.
After a rough start, the Grizzlies have reeled off four straight victories. Based on how Golden Sierra handled its business against the Rams, the Grizzliesare well on their way to a playoff spot and possible league title.
In the first half, Golden Sierra continuously marched down the field with little difficulty as quarterback Bryson Campbell (touchdown passes to Brian Cann, Gracen Christensen) masterfully ran the offense as the Grizzlies found the end zone six times in the first half for a comfortable 41-7 advantage.
Up big, Golden Sierra was content to allow its defense to take over for the remainder of the contest as Zander Mishler, Samuel Steward, Austin Mason, Casey Blakley along with a host of other Grizzlies swarmed to the ball on every play.
Offensively, the Griz methodically ate up the clock and added two more touchdowns to their total. In addition to Sewell, Christensen and Cann, Trevor Pedri, Cameron Stephens and Anthony Rosas also scored touchdowns.
Up next for Golden Sierra is Encina as the Grizzlies continue their march toward a league title.
