GARDEN VALLEY — The Golden Sierra High boys soccer team lost its home opener to Placer, 8-0, Tuesday.

From tip-off to the final whistle, the Hillmen were aggressive with three scores in the first 18 minutes of the first half Placer added two more to lead 5-0 at the half

In the second half, Placer extended with three more scores. Golden Sierra had only three shots on goal the entire game, compared to Placer, which had more than a dozen.

Grizzly head coach Trenton Moi has 23 players on his roster this season, including six seniors: Anthony Yanzon, Brandon Susic, Glen Carlisle, Evan Turley, Kyle Shiba and Author Perez.

Juniors and underclassmen who saw plenty of action in Tuesday’s game were Ryan Babel, Deo Aualos and Jesus Santos.

The Griz hosted Marysville yesterday.
