FOLSOM — Michael Kujawa’s single past a drawn-in infield scored Cameron Cole in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday at McFarland Park, sending the Ponderosa Yankees to the 9-8 victory over the Lakeside Cardinals and into the District 54 Little League TOC title game.
After Lakeside pulled even with three runs in its last at bat, Cole singled to lead off the home-half, Michael Miller walked and both were bunted up by Nick Olowski. Kujawa rifled his hit into left to end it.
Ponderosa shortstop Austin Jarrard drove in four runs, two on a fifth-inning home run as the Yankees pushed ahead 8-5. The Cardinals rallied to stay alive but failed to get the shut-down inning to extend the game.
The Yankees erased a 1-deficit in the first with four runs. Miller, Olowski and Kujawa singled to open before Jarrard singled in two for the inning’s big hit.
Kujawa went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs; Jarrard was 2-for-3 with the home run and four RBIs; and Frank Donohue doubled.
Miller started on the mound before Corey Torres took over.
