FOLSOM — Two El Dorado County high school cross-country teams and three individuals stood out at Saturday’s CIF Sac-Joaquin Section meet at Willow Hills.

The Golden Sierra High boys squad took first place in Division V with 35 points, easily running past Foresthill, which finished with 68 points. The top two teams in the division advanced to the CIF State Cross Country Championships that will take place at Fresno’s Woodward Park on Saturday, Nov. 30.
“We have a good team,” said Golden Sierra’s Jason Yurgelevic, who finished in second place with a time of 17 minutes, 26 seconds.
The El Dorado High girls squad took third place with 93 points in Division III, as the top three teams in this division advance.
“We are very excited,” said El Dorado’s Celina Vincenzio, one of two seniors on the team. “This is what we wanted and this is what we got.”
Oak Ridge’s Rachel Peterson advanced as an individual as did El Dorado’s Boone Bates and Union Mine’s Makana Kauhaahaa.
