ELK GROVE — Two Union Mine field female athletes made progress in their respective events Thursday at the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Masters at Elk Grove High.

Lady Diamondback Leah Bertuccelli, competing in the pole vault, has a new PR with a leap of 10 feet, 7 inches for fifth place. Bertuccelli, a junior, had a has previous mark of 10-6.

Discus thrower Sarah Vasquez recorded a new PR with a toss of 123 feet, 4 inches for an eighth place finish. The top three advance to the CIF State Meet that will be held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis toward the end of the week. Vasquez, also a junior, tossed for 123-2 earlier this season.
