EL DORADO HILLS — Defense came up huge for the Oak Ridge girls lacrosse team in Tuesday’s home game against Davis that led to a narrow 10-9 win.

With 29 seconds left after a Davis timeout, the Blue Devils worked theirdownfield before Trojan Mariana Alvear forced a turnover.
“Defense won this game for us,” Oak Ridge head coach Eldore Wood said. “I think it showed the way they played. Mariana had a huge game for us today. She steps up when it really matters.”
Oak Ridge (10-6) led 6-3 at halftime. After Kayla Galet added another goal 44 seconds into the second half, Davis scored four goals within seven minutes to tie the game at 7-all.
Galet scored the go-ahead goal for the Trojans with 8:44 left for an 8-7 lead. Two minutes later, Jessica Hanson scored to make it 9-7.
After Davis pulled to within one with 5:40 left, Trojan Bridget Malone scored a goal that proved to be the difference for a 10-8 lead with 4:31 remaining.
Galet scored two goals in the first half while Madisyn Hallare, Malone and Cristina Drossos also scored.
The game was also Senior Night, as Hanson, Arielle Spring, Malone and Morgan Janice were honored along with their families.
