Mallory Velte repeats as state champion

LEMOORE — Cameron Park’s Mallory Velte, a senior at Christian Brothers High in Sacramento, did it again. The senior Falcon swept the competition at the recent Girls State Wrestling Championships at Lemoore High.

The state’s top 132-pounder, at the third annual girl’s event, won her finals match 10-2 over Steele Canyon-Springs Valley’s Marki Simmons.

Velte also posted wins via a pin and 5-4 and 11-0 decisions. She was one of four wrestlers to repeat as champion.

She also won her bracket at the lead-in Regional Tournament at McNair High.
