EL DORADO HILLS — The Oak Ridge High School Baseball Program, in conjunction with the Oak Ridge High School Community Foundation, starts a new tradition this year by hosting an alumni baseball game. All former players are invited to reconnect with former teammates and have fun as you once again round the bases and slide into memories of the past.
The March 2 game will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be umpired by the program’s first baseball coach, Doug Paul. The game will be followed by a Reunion BBQ hosted by the 2103 Oak Ridge Baseball Team.
There is no cost to participate in the alumni game; you just have to register by contacting the Oak Ridge Alumni Baseball Planning Committee at baseballalumni10@gmail.com.
The alumni game is being provided in conjunction with “The Meet the 2013 Team Tri-Tip Dinner” at the Mercedes Dealership in El Dorado Hills at 6 p.m.
The event’s featured speaker will be Sacramento State head baseball coach Reggie Christiansen. With 15 years of coaching and recruiting experience at the Division I level, Coach Christiansen will provide an enlightening picture of what it takes to become a Division I student/athlete.
All residual funds from the dinner will go toward the much-needed renovation of the Oak Ridge baseball fields. The aim through this renovation is to convert our current baseball complex into a first rate facility in which all of the EDH community members can take pride.
This event is perfect for parents with children who are interested in being introduced to the great traditions of Oak Ridge High baseball. The team would especially like to involve the next generation of Trojan players who are currently participating in El Dorado Hills Little League. Wear your Little League team jersey or hat and receive a gift from the team.
Tickets are $25 per person and seating is limited to the first 500 tickets sold. Get your tickets online at orhsbaseballdinner.eventbrite.com or from Steve Meinhofer, meinhofer@comcast.net.
