PALO ALTO — Eighteen Oak Ridge athletes competed in the prestigious Stanford Track and Field Invitational last weekend.

Senior Rachel Peterson placed 10th in her heat with a time of 10:20.74 in the 3000 meter run — the equivalent to her best 3200 meter time of 11:04 which she set in May 2013.

Peterson also competed in the girls’ distance medley, racing the 1200 meter leg which is the lead off of the medley, with Briana Dulgar (400 meters), Mikhayla Polivka (800 meters), and Arial Hendrickson (1600 meters). All four set personal bests. The team placed 5th in their heat with a season’s best time of 12:58.97.

Griffin Prather and Brandon Jetter raced very well in the 400 meter hurdles. Prather placed 6th in his heat with a time of 61.15 while Brandon placed 5th in his heat with a time of 61.16.

Austin Laut, Kasian Strawick, and Corbett Ralstin competed in the boys’ pole vault. Unfortunately, rain prevented the trio from clearing the opening height of 13 feet.

Oak Ridge also had athletes compete in the boys’ 4x 00 meter relay, girls’ 100 meter hurdles, boys’ high jump, girls’ 4×800 meter relay, and the girls’ 4×400 meter relay. Prather, Chubi Ohanele, Bryce Williams and Jetter placed 8th in their heat of the 4×100 relay with a time of 44.79.

Jaimi Gotro placed 6th in her heat with a time of 16.48 in the 100 hurdles. Will Vaughn cleared 6-2 in the high jump and tied for 6th place. The girls 4×800 meter relay team (Sabrina Andrus, Dulgar, Sarah Dolley, Hendrickson) placed second in their heat with a season’s best time of 9:53.59. The girls 4×400 meter relay team (Andrus, Sierra Salmon, Gotro, Dulgar) closed out the meet for Oak Ridge, placing 6th in their heat and set a season best time of 4:10.98
