Ponderosa led 5-1 at the time before Lakeside erupted for eight runs in its final at-bat and then held off a late Ponderosa bid to post a come-from-behind 9-8 win, eliminating Ponderosa.
Trailing 9-5, Ponderosa rallied in the bottom of the frame but came up short. Nick King singled, moved to second on a fielder’s choice from Jordan Humphrey, stole third and scored on a wild throw.
RJ Banke reached on a fielder’s choice that put runners at the corners and Humphrey scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 9-7.
Ponderosa loaded the bases when Matt Nagy was hit by a pitch and Derrick Dittevse singled to center to drive in Banke to make it 9-8 before Lakeside recorded the last out.
Nagy scored Ponderosa’s first run on Dittevse’s single and Dittevse scored on a grounder. In the second, Torbyn Hare singled and scored on Jaxon Clausen’s single to make it 3-1. Owen Chester double and Nick Ousley’s single accounted for the other runs.
