FOLSOM — Ponderosa’s Christine Redor captured fifth place in last Saturday’s CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division II Section Meet at Willow Hills, finishing with a time of 19:11.
Redor’s performance, an improvement of 26 seconds on the course, qualified the junior for an individual spot at the State Meet Nov. 24 at Fresno’s Woodward Park.
Though the Lady Bruins had numerous PRs, their sixth-place standing failed to breach the top three of Bella Vista, Whitney and Granite Bay that sends full teams to Fresno.
The next Bruin to cross the finish line was senior Brooke Ruppenthal in 23rd place, over a minute better than her previous best Willow Hills time. In 24th with a time of 20:41 was Hannah O’Donnell to improve a course PR time by 27 seconds.
Claire Hoffman (20:41) was 22 seconds faster on the course; Brittany Anselmo battled a back injury to improve by a minute and a half; and rounding out the Ponderosa racers was Teagan Tomasello who improved her Delta River League championships time by 40 seconds.
In the varsity boys race, the top Bruin runner was David Duncan who came in a minute and 16 seconds ahead of his best-ever Willow Hills time. Senior Nick Prete gained 13 seconds at the league championships two weeks ago and added another three Saturday in his final cross country race.
