Wanting to bounce back from Wednesday’s summer-opening setback at Auburn, El Dorado’s Tyler Kremer squared his team’s record with a clutch, two-out single to left in the bottom of the seventh to score Lucas Fuller from second.
Both teams escaped late jams. Post 119 scored first on Austin Rigby’s RBI single to plate Logan Ito and went up 2-0 on Brendan Hunter’s infield hit that drove in RJ Blake.
Tied at 2-2, Ito’s single scored Zach Ward in the fifth.
Blake started and pitched into the sixth. Auburn tied it but Rigsby cut down a run at the plate on a throw to Kremer to complete a double play.
In the top of the seventh, El Dorado preserved the 3-3 score after third baseman Alex Vargas grabbed a gound ball, fired to Kremer who threw to Ito to erase a runner between third and home.
Logan McMahon picked up the win in relief.
In the second game, five El Dorado pitchers surrendered 16 walks. Rigsby went 2-for-3 with a double.
