Oak Ridge golfer Dylan VanderVeer captured the First Tee Junior Tournament late last month at the El Macero Golf Course. shooting a 1-under on the par 72 course to win by three strokes. VanderVeer eagled two holes, bogied one and shot par on the 16 others. Other Trojans who competed were Austin Long (6th), while on the girls side Carolyn Almeida tied for 9th and Lexi Perry was 13th.
The Prospector Soccer Club’s Under 10 Girls Competitive team, Impact, won the championship at the 13th Annual Breakers Cup Tournament, a two-weekend youth soccer event held in Santa Cruz. Impact started the weekend with a 4-0 shutout against Granite Bay FC Klash and followed with a 2-0 victory over the El Dorado Hills SC Galaxy. In the semis, PSC handily won 7-1 against Petaluma United to advance to the championship game against Galaxy Blues Gold. The Galaxy Blues Gold put up a fight but were no match for Impact which prevailed 3-2.
“These girls put in the hard work, and have a determination to play better every time we head to a tournament,” coach Joe Humprey said, “Coaches Grant Gillaspy, Jen Holley and I could not be more proud of the way they played (last) weekend.”
