Boys basketball

Ponderosa 69, Argonaut 57 — Trialing 34-30 at halftime in Tuesday’s non-league game, the visiting Bruins (5-2) corralled the Mustangs to nine points in the third quarter. Ponderosa led 47-43 going into the fourth quarter. Three Bruins scored in double figures; Matt Bejsovec had 19 points, Jordan Brennan 16 and Josh Bist 10. Shelby Lee had eight points and Chris Snyder seven. Snyder had nine of the Bruins’ 26 rebounds.
El Dorado 47, Rio Americano 52 — The visiting Cougars (2-4) outscored the Raiders, 19-10, in the third quarter of Wednesday’s non-league game in Sacramento, but Rio Americano outscored El Dorado in the other quarters. Matt Smith and Tommy Williams scored in double figures for El Dorado with 16 and 12 points respectively. Aaron Line scored eight points and Kean Thompson six. Michael Weston pulled down nine of the Cougars’ 29 rebounds. Smith and Williams had six boards each.

Youth wrestling

El Dorado Hills club wrestlers traveled down to the Fall Brawl Wrestling Tournament at McLane High in Fresno. Eighth graders Michael Mello and Riley Lewallen both placed 2nd and qualified for TOCs. Jackson Redhair had 3 wins 2 losses. In the 6th/5th grade division, Anthony Whiting placed 1st and Kaden West Placed 2nd.
