Boys basketball

Golden Sierra 76, Rio Vista 47 — The Grizzlies locked down the Sierra Delta League’s final playoff spot with Monday’s road win. Five players scored in double figures led by Jason Yurgelevic’s game-high 20 points that came on his league-record six three-pointers. Sam Holter added 15 points; Nick White, designated Golden Sierra’s Player of the Game, had a big night with 10 points and 21 rebounds; Kyle Shiba added a near double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds; and Micah Wever added 10 points and eight rebounds. Of note, Peter Biersteker had seven assists and seven rebounds to go along with five points. The Grizzlies end the regular season 6-6 in league and 14-12 overall.

Girls basketball

Golden Sierra 34, Rio Vista 35 — The Lady Grizzlies lost a very close game to the Rio Vista Lady Rams Monday — the outcome decided in the last 10 seconds. Alexis Chiaratti led the team with 11 points and six rebounds followed by Melissa Comstock with 10 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Rebecca Brown had four points, nine rebounds, six steals, and three blocked shots. Emily Alexander also had four points followed by Lindsay Dorosh and Amanda Troiano with two points each for Golden Sierra (3-9, 6-19).
