Boys basketball

Oak Ridge 52, Pleasant Grove 49 — The host Trojans broke a tie score after three quarters to win Wendesday’s Delta River League opener at home. Oak Ridge placed four in double figures: Tyus Millhollin led with 13 points; Matt Battaglia followed with 12; and Connor Davis and Connor Sende each scored 11.
El Dorado 75, Galt 39 — The Cougars outscored the host Warriors 40-10 in the middle quarters of Tuesday’s Sierra Valley Conference victory. Eleven players cracked the scoring column for El Dorado led by Tommy Williams with 13 points, Matt Smith with 11 and Kean Thompson with 10. Aaron Line contributed nine points, Soren Shepherd scored eight and Jeff Riley had six points.
Golden Sierra 53, Encina 91 — The host Bulldogs exploded for 56 second and third quarter points in Wednesday’s Sierra delta League win. The Grizzlies Peter Biersteker scored 13 points; Sam Holter added 12; Nick White had 10 points and 10 rebounds; and Micah Wever supplied 10 points and eight rebounds.

Girls basketball

Oak Ridge 64, Pleasant Grove 40 — The Trojans won their Delta River League opener with Tuesday’s road win over the Eagles. Oak Ridge built an 11-point halftime lead and ourscored Pleasant grove by 11 in the fourth quarter. Shelby Peters scored 12 points to lead Troy while Jenn Hoffman buketed 10, Ali Bettencourt and Isamar Conde each added eight points; Briana Dulgar had six; and Sayara Smith and Michelle Barkley chipped in with five points apiece.
Ponderosa 26, St. Francis 54 — Th Bruins were outscored 41-13 in the second half of Tuesday’s league opener in Sacramento. Ponderosa grabbed a 13-7 first-quarter lead but went scoreless in the second as St. Francis pulled even at the half. Maddie Clayton and Danielle Craft scored 10 points each for the Bruins.
