Girls basketball

Union Mine 41, River City 52 — In Wednesday’s Sierra Valley Conference game in West Sacramento, the Lady Diamondbacks (2-2, 15-4) outscored the Lady Raiders in the fourth quarter, 17-4, but River City hung on for the victory. Union Mine fell behind in the first quarter, 14-5 and 32-17 at halftime. Madison Aliff led the D’backs in scoring with 19 points. Kimee Mueller followed with 10 and Sonya Watson, Stephanie Preacher, Yvonne Taylor, Brianna Lara, Savannah Scott and Alex Smith scored two points each. Union Mine pulled down 38 rebounds, as Mueller had 14.
Golden Sierra 47, San Juan 65 — After falling behind by an 18-9 margin in the first quarter in Wednesday’s Sierra Delta League game in Citrus Heights, the Lady Grizzlies (2-3, 4-15) rallied in the second quarter, outscoring the Spartans, 15-8 to be down 26-24 at halftime. But San Juan went on a 20-8 run in the third quarter to seal the victory. Kenna Barth led Golden Sierra in scoring with 16 points. Jenna Pendzinski and Sierra Monroe scored six points each. Lindsay Dorosh,Becca Brown and Monroe had six rebounds each, as the Grizzlies finished with 39 boards.
Ponderosa 37, Sheldon 56 — In Tuesday’s Delta River League game in Elk Grove, the Lady Bruins were behind 15-7 after the first quarter. But the Lady Huskies built their lead to 30-16 at halftime en route to victory. Sheldon led 45-25 after three quarters. Tiffany Nesterenko scored 10 points for the Bruins (0-3, 11-9). Danielle Craft followed in scoring for Ponderosa with nine points, Sophia George six, Ashley Beck four and Danielle Becker and Brooke Sinner scored two each. Donielle Hair had 15 points for Sheldon and Aliyah Owens and Daija Ward had 10 points each.
