Boys basketball

El Dorado 54, River City 71 — Outscored 38-22 in the second and fourth quarters, the Cougars dropped Thursday’s Sierra Valley Conference road game. Tommy Williams led El Dorado with a game-high 17 points; Soren Shepherd scored 10; Matt Smith added nine points; and Aaron Line had six.

Girls basketball

Ponderosa 36, Folsom 68 — The host Lady Bulldogs outscored the Bruins 36-13 to pull away in the second half of Thursday’s Delta River League home win. Danielle Craft (19 points) and Alex Boyle (13 points) scored all but four of Ponderosa’s points.
Union Mine 29, Vista del Lago 45 — The host Eagles outscored the D’backs 18-8 in the second quarter of Friday’s Sierra Valley Conference win. Stephanie Preacher scored seven points to lead Union Mine, Courtney Bruno added six, Savannah Scott bucketed five and Yvonne Taylor had four.
Oak Ridge 63, Sheldon 41 — The Lady Trojans outscored the host Huskies 33-12 in the first half of Friday’s Delta River League victory.
El Dorado 39, River City 75 — The visiting Raiders outscored The Cougars 48-22 in the first half of Friday’s Sierra Valley Conference game. Kayla Cotten led El Dorado with nine points, Hannah Dixon scored eight, and Rebecca McCaughey, Faith Wilson and Carley Fowler each had five points.
