El Dorado Hills 0, Nogales 4 — Representing Northern California, the El Dorado Hills 50/70 Intermediate team fell short of reaching the World Series after its second setback to the host Nogales, Ariz. team Thursday night at Fleischer Park.
Both vyed for the Western Regional District 8 championship and to advance to Livermore, site of this week’s series. Earlier in the D-8 tournament, Nogales defeated El Dorado Hills 7-6. Thursday in the finals, Nogales lefty Aaron Solis allowed just one hit, and struck out 15 of the 21 batters he faced.
El Dorado 7, Pro Players 2 — In the nightcap of Saturday’s Legion baseball game at El Dorado High, Zach Terry went the distance on the hill for El Dorado (27-4), giving up five hits, striking out two and walking one. At the plate, El Dorado had eight hits that included a towering home run over the right field fence from Owen Mackedrick. El Dorado scored a run each from the third to sixth innings, and scored its final three runs in the top of the seventh frame.
El Dorado 11, Lodi 3 — In Friday’s game at Zupo Field, El Dorado’s Nick Bonniksen, Louis Merlo and Terry split time on the mound.
