Softball

Ponderosa 13, Rosemont 0 — In Tuesday’s non-league season opener in Sacramento, Ponderosa scored seven times in the first inning en route to the five-inning win. Ponderosa had 12 hits and was aided by seven Rosemont errors. Paris Hallums and MacKenzie Mueller split time on the mound for the Bruins, tossing a two-hitter. At the plate, Rachel Timberman was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and a double. Shawna Boley went 2-for-2 with a double and Missy Silvera was 2-for-3.
Oak Ridge 7, Granite Bay 3 — Seven was a good number for Oak Ridge (3-1) in its victory Tuesday afternoon at home against Granite Bay. The Trojans had seven hits in addition to seven runs. Behind 3-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning, Oak Ridge scored two runs in that frame and four more in the bottom of the sixth for the victory. Alyssa Burns pitched for the Trojans, striking out five and giving up four hits. For the Lady Trojans, Lindsey Zito had a triple and two RBIs, Amber Orchard had a double, Renee Bardini was 2-for-3 with a triple and Bailey Cook had a double and two RBIs.
Golden Sierra 5, Foresthill 1 — Hollie Johnson struck out five in a three-hitter Tuesday as the Grizzlies picked up a home win. Johnson, Kenna Barth and Carley Kauffman each went 2-for-3 while Samantha Bastien tripled.
Union Mine 16, Amador 2 — Sarah Phillis (3-for-3) swung the big bat with a triple and double to drive in five runs in the D’backs’ five-inning home win Tuesday. Union Mine scored six in the first and nine in the second. Stevens and Robertson each had two hits and a home run while Winje went 3-for-3.

Soccer

Golden Sierra 6, Rio Vista 0 — The Grizzlies tallied three time in each half to open with Tuesday’s Sierra Delta League home opener victoriously. Kaleigh Brothers knocked in a career-high four goals while Kourtney Brothers added a goal and an assist and Mariah Fernandez also scored. In goal, Laura Russel had four saves.
Oak Ridge 1, McClatchy 1 — Anna Lippuner scored Tuesday’s only Trojan goal off an assist by Carissa Rivers as host Oak Ridge tied the Lions. Troy keeper Nina Grimes had three saves.
