El Dorado 6, Cosumnes Oaks 8In a Sierra Valley Conference game in Elk Grove Wednesday, the Cougars scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning but it wasn’t enough. Michael Green had a triple, Zach Culp had a double and Ryan Rodriguez went 2-for-3 for El Dorado (1-1, 4-1), which had five hits in the game. Louis Merlo and Nick Bonniksen split time on the mound for the Cougars.
El Dorado 3, Cosumnes Oaks 2
— The Cougars rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh, the winning run coming on a Rodriguez single after Matt Smith had tied it up. Green and Zach Terry combined on a five-hitter.
Golden Sierra 6, Rio Vista 9 — Josh Salmonson had three hits, among them a double and triple, and drove in four runs for the Grizzlies in a Sierra Delta League game. Brayden Ellis (triple) and Christian Klahn each added two hits, On the mound, Cameron Stephens, Tony Ceirante and Alex Vargas pitched.
Ponderosa 7, Valley Christian 0 — Davis Carlson threw a no-hitter for the Bruins in Wednesday’s nonleague home game. Ponderosa scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning to set the tone. Ryan Carey was 3-for-4 at the plate, and Jacob Hilliker went 2-for-3 for Ponderosa (1-2).
Ponderosa 2, Vista del Lago 9 — The host Eagles scored six runs to break from a close 3-2 game. Matthew Gould doubled for the Bruins.


Golden Sierra 26, Encina 0 — Marina Alexander pitched a one hit shutout with 10 strikeouts and went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs. Savannah Stephens was 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs, Sam Bastien had five hits and 7 RBIs and Ally Baiz  went 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs in the Sierra Delta League game
“I was glad to get our first game over with, we have some strong returning players and a lot of young player eager to learn the game. We came out hard in the first inning with seven runs and never looked back. I’m very proud of the performance my senior pitcher put on she stayed focused and did her job very well,” Grizzly coach Sonny Stephens said.
Ponderosa 6, Whitney 4 — The Lady Bruins broke a tie with three runs in the top of the seventh. Madison Anderson (2-for-3, double) and Veronica Greene (double) each drove in two runs; Taylor Doane and Rachel Timberman each had two hits; and Terra Jerpbak pitched a five-hitter.
Oak Ridge 8, Granite Bay 5 — Caityln Olan doubled, homered and drove in four runs. Taylor Railey and Bailey Cook each had two hits; Lindsey Zito drove in two runs; and Alyssa Burns tossed a seven-hitter.
