Oak Ridge 4, Rodriguez 1 — Austin Root pitched a complete-game three-hitter Thursday, striking out eight, as the Trojans finished 2-2 at the spring break tournament. Oak Ridge took the lead for good with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Ross Dwelley went 2-for-3 with a home run for Troy. Other RBIs came from FP Santangelo, Logan Marston and Mickey Meinhofer.
El Dorado 6, St. Francis 7 — The Cougars’ seventh-inning rally that produced all six runs fell by the wayside as the host Sharks scored the tie-breaking win in the bottom of the eighth for Thursday’s walkoff win. El Dorado, shut out the previous six innings, pulled even in the seventh thanks to contributions from its bench. Unfortunately, an error helped set up St. Francis’ game-deciding run. Offensively for the Cougars, Chris Swineford went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs; Ryan Rodriguez went 3-for-4; Sawyer Schardt was 2-for-2; and Matt Smith had a double and two RBIs. On the mound, Tim Hinrichs started and was followed by Zachary Terry and Rodriguez.
