Ruff Road Race

By From page A8 | April 01, 2013

The inaugural Ruff Road Race, rain or shine, is taking place on Sunday, May 5, at Oak Ridge High.

This race will honor former Trojan track and field coach Josh Ruff, who lost his life last year in an accident where he worked part-time as assistant winemaker. The Ruff Road Race will benefit the Oak Ridge High Track and Field program.

The 5k race will begin at 8 a.m., starting at the corner of Silva Valley and Serrano Parkway and end inside the Oak Ridge High football stadium.

Medals and ribbons will be presented at the awards ceremony to top finishers of each gender and age category.

This event will also feature a T-shirt, goody bag, and race pictures. Following the race participants will enjoy music, kids activities and awards.

There is a special Ruff’s Pups Elementary School 100 meter dash at the Oak Ridge Stadium, free to kids second grade and younger. All participants will receive event finishers ribbon.
