Sharks win first meet of season

There were 21 Sierra Sharks swimmers who had qualifying times for next month’s Meet of Champions at the team’s first dual meet of the season against College Greens, who the Sharks took a bite out of with a 474-313 win June 14.

Boys with qualifying times for the MOC were Avery Pellicano (ages 7-8), Kai Curry (9-10), Aiden Pellicano (9-10), Brendan Slaaery (11-12), Paul Vos (13-14), Justin Lehr (13-14), Garon Plattor (13-14), plus Nathanael Pipkin, Talon Green and Seth Wilmoth in the 15-18 age division.

Posting qualifying times in two more events were Vos and Aiden Pellicano. In addition, Lehr led the 200 freestyle relay team to a first place. Green and Wilmoth were the first and third legs, respectively, on the 200 medley relay team that swam to a first place finish.

For the girls, Lulu Mancinelli (6 and under), Kolya Vos (9-10), Analeis Vos (9-10), Kendall Kott (11-12), Amy Wilmoth (11-12), Jordyn McPherson (11-12) and Savannah Day, Rachel Muha, Torianna Green, Hannah Torres and Ashlie Stoddard, all in the 15-18 division, posted qualifying times. Mancinelli, Koyla Vos, Analeis Vos, Kott join Day and Muha in meeting times in two or more events.

Day, Torianna Green and Muha were part of the 200 medley relay team that took first place. Analeis Vos was part of the 100 medley relay and the 200 medley relay teams that earned first place medals. Mancinelli helped anchor the 100 freestyle relay squad, which picked up its first medal of the season. Kott guided the 200 freestyle relay and 200 medley relay teams to first place finishes.

The team’s next home meet is Saturday, June 28 against Folsom.
