Baseball tryouts

The Park Prospects competitive baseball 13u team will be holding an open tryout on Sunday Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. at Rasmussen Park in Cameron Park. The Prospects are looking for players for the 2013 spring season. All players must bring their own equipment and arrive 30 minutes early for warm up and registration. Park Prospects 13u team will participate in tournaments (USSSA and Super Series) as well as league play throughout the spring. For more information contact Kevin Kujawa at 916-595-3031.

Spring softball

Foothill Girl’s Softball League is taking registrations through Dec. 31 for its spring league for girls ages 5-18. For information visit fgsl.org.

After school intramural programs

Cameron Park CSD is offering after school intramural volleyball on Mondays and basketball on Tuesdays at the CSD gymnasium for youth in grades 6-8. Program is designed to learn new skills in a fun atmosphere, introducing kids to various games, activities and drills to develop interest and improve. The drop-in fee is $5 or $18 per month. Wrestling signups

The El Dorado Hills Wrestling Club is accepting signups now for the winter season. Youth in grades K-8 interested in learning the sport, improving skills and competing are encouraged to join. For information or to sign up go to the Website EDHwrestling.com or e-mail EDHwrestling@ymail.com.

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga classes sponsored by Placerville Recreation strengthen weak areas and stretches stiff parts to realign the entire body. Learn to release physical tension and psychological resistance through yoga postures. The class taught by Michael Shaw is designed to introduce new students to basic yoga postures and challenge experienced students. Bring a firm blanket, bare feet and an empty stomach. Wear comfortable clothes and respect a scent-free environment. The next sessions are on Mondays, Dec. 17-Feb. 25, from 10:30 a.m.to noon or 7 to 8:30 p.m; or Wednesdays, Nov. 7-Dec. 26, from 1-2:30 p.m. The fee is $60.

Mighty Mites basketball

Placerville Recreation is sponsoring a fun and fundamental approach to recreational sports. The basketball camp will be held on Wednesdays, Jan. 1-30, 2013, 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the Markham School gym. Camps are designed for beginning players to introduce skills and develop sportsmanship and positive attitudes. Every player will have a chance to make a basket in games the last two weeks of camp. The fee is $39 with an optional T-shirt fee of $7.
