A reunion is being planned for former runners from El Dorado High who ran under coach Jim Myers during the 1970s, 80s and 90s. The reunion will be at the Forester Pub & Grill in Camino on Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. for former runners, wifes/husbands, significant others and family members. Cameron Park CSD is offering after school intramural volleyball on Mondays and basketball on Tuesdays at the CSD gymnasium for youth in grades 6-8. Program is designed to learn new skills in a fun atmosphere, introducing kids to various games, activities and drills to develop interest and improve. The drop-in fee is $5 or $18 per month. Join coaches Bob Ackley and Mike Orchard for fun basketball camps sponsored by Placerville’s Recreation & Parks Department Saturday Jan. 5 at El Dorado High’s large gym. Learn proper fundamentals including passing, dribbling and shooting. Campers will participate in drills and individualk/team competition. Signups for Placerville Recreation’s youth basketball program are being taken now for the league which includes one practice and one game per week at El Dorado High and neighboring schools. Teams are guaranteed eight games. Practice starts Jan. 2 with the first league games beginning Jan. 12-13. The league runs through mid March. The program’s mission is to provide a fun experience with sportsmanship and teamwork emphasized. The early bird fee is $87, which includes a team shirt; the fee is $97 after Sept. 27. There are five divisions for boys and girls teams. Coaches and assistants are needed and anyone interested should call 530-642-5232 for information.
Placerville Recreation is sponsoring a fun and fundamental approach to recreational sports. The basketball camp will be held on Wednesdays, Jan. 1-30, 2013, 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the Markham School gym. Camps are designed for beginning players to introduce skills and develop sportsmanship and positive attitudes. Every player will have a chance to make a basket in games the last two weeks of camp. The fee is $39 with an optional T-shirt fee of $7.
