The inaugural Ruff Road Race takes place on Sunday, May 5 at Oak Ridge High. This race honors former Trojan track and field coach Josh Ruff, who lost his life last year in an accident where he worked part-time as assistant winemaker. The Ruff Road Race will benefit the Oak Ridge High Track and Field program. The 5k race will begin at 8 a.m., starting at the corner of Silva Valley and Serrano Parkway and end inside the Oak Ridge High football stadium. Youth soccer clinic
Members of Challenger Sports’ British Soccer Camp staff will be at the Christa McAuliffe Park in Cameron Park Thursday, May 16 to run a series of free skills clinic sessions. The clinic will be broken up into age brackets; ages 3 to 5 years will go from 5 to 6 p.m. and ages 6 to 12 from 6 to 7 p.m. Staff will be on hand to inform players and parents about the popular British soccer program that has proved to be a hit in Cameron Park in past summers.
