Boys basketball camp

Join coaches Bob Ackley and Mike Orchard for fun basketball camps sponsored by Plaverville’s Recreation & Parks Department Saturday Jan. 5 at El Dorado High’s large gym. Learn proper fundamentals including passing, dribbling and shooting. Campers will participate in drills and individualk/team competition. Grades 4-6 is 9 a.m. to noon while grades 7-8 are from 1-4 p.m. Cost is $30. Bring water. For information call 530-642-5232 or visit cityofplacerville.org.

Spring softball

Foothill Girl’s Softball League is taking registrations through Dec. 31 for its spring league for girls ages 5-15. For information visit fgsl.org

Adult 5X5 Basketball

The Cameron Park Community Service District is taking team signups for the next Tuesday evening adult basketball league. The league starts Nov. 20 and will run thru Jan. 22. Deadline for registration is Nov. 13 at 5:00 pm. The team fee is $425. For further information, contact the CSD office at 677-2231.

Wrestling signups

The El Dorado Hills Wrestling Club is accepting signups now for the winter season. Youth in grades K-8 interested in learning the sport, improving skills and competing are encouraged to join. For information or to sign up go to the Website EDHwrestling.com or e-mail EDHwrestling@ymail.com.

Placerville coed volleyball

Four-on-4 or 6-on-6 winter league games sponsored by Placerville Recreation will be played on Thursday evenings at Markham School gym. The 4-on-4 league will have no officials. Register by Dec. 6 for the start of league play Dec. 20. Fee for the 4-on-4 league is $140 per team; the 6-on-6 league fee is $225.

Placerville adult hoops

Winter league play sponsored by Placerville Recreation starts Dec. 19; the registration deadline is Dec. 6. The league includes 4-on-4 teams for $140 per team and 6-on-6 teams for $225.

Mighty Mites basketball

Placerville Recreation is sponsoring a fun and fundamental approach to recreational sports. The basketball camp will be held on Wednesdays, Jan. 1-30, 2013,  5:30-6:15 p.m. at the Markham School gym. Camps are designed for beginning players to introduce skills and develop sportsmanship and positive attitudes. Every player will have a chance to make a basket in games the last two weeks of camp. The fee is $39 with an optional T-shirt fee of $7.
