Trojans 1st at Granite Bay

CARMICHAEL — The Oak Ridge High cross-country teams competed at last weekend’s Granite Bay Invitational at Ancil Hoffman Park.

The varsity course was 5,000 meters — 3.1 miles — and the Frosh/Soph course was 4,000 meters — 2.5 miles. Harriers from 10 schools participated in the invitational. Eight Oak Ridge athletes received medals.

The Oak Ridge varsity girls team were led by senior Rachel Peterson, who placed first with a time of 19 minutes and 26 seconds, winning by 14 seconds. Peterson raced with the front pack at the beginning of the race and took command at the first mile. Following Peterson was Briana Dulgar, who took ninth place.

The Trojan varsity boys squad placed fifth. Alex Merry raced took 13th place with a time of 17:18.

The Oak Ridge frosh/soph boys team raced well. Freshman Luke Bricca and sophomore Austin Streetman took second and third, respectively. The Trojans had five runners place in the top nine and finished with 25 points.

Freshmen Alexis Miller and Katie Sanfelice raced very well in the frosh/soph girls race for the Lady Trojans. Miller took fourth place at 17:23 and Sanfelice 13th place at 19:10.

Varsity Girls (Oak Ridge 1st with 46 points): 1-Rachel Peterson, 19:26; 9-Briana Dulgar, 20:21; 11-Mikhayla Polivka, 20:40; 12-Sarah Dolley, 20:40; 13-Arial Hendrickson, 20:52; 57-Hannah Pawlek, 25:43; 82-Sami Jo Sanfelice, 31:24.

Frosh/Soph Boys (Oak Ridge 1st with 25 points): 2-Luke Bricca, 14:01; 3-Austin Streetman, 14:13; 5-Joe Shaller, 14:27; 6-Blake Fabian, 14:37; 9-Rohan Nalawadi, 15:19; 18-Oliver Arenchild, 15:39; 25-Nick Gladwell, 16:13; 27-Nolan Vanhonsebrouck, 16:16; Ethan Fleming, 16:46; 39-Nick White, 16:53; 42-Matthais Zierhut, 17:16; 51-Brent Maher, 17:41.
