FOLSOM — The Oak Ridge High cross-country teams participated last weekend at the Bronco Invite at the Willow Hills course. Eleven Trojan runners obtained medals by placing in the top 25 in their races.

Ellie Velez earned third place in the varsity girls large school race. Briana Dulgar and Mikhayla Polivka placed third and 13th, respectively, in the frosh/soph girls large school race and Lauren Martinez earned a medal by placing 23rd. Mindy Ong placed eighth in the junior varsity girls race. Kyle Kauffman took eighth place, Sebastian Gardney was 16th and Jason Phen was 19th to earn medals in the freshmen boys large school race.

The highlight of the day was the first place performance turned in by the Trojans’ sophomore boys in the large school race with 44 points. Second place was Bella Vista with 78 points.

Oak Ridge was led by Jordan Hordesky’s first-place finish. Hordesky covered the challenging 3,400 meter course in 11:33 — 5:28 per mile pace — and finished very strong on the last half mile of the course. Alex Merry took third place, Brett Ford was eighth and Patrick Irwin was ninth to round out the top 10 Troy harriers.
