Oak Ridge hosts Napa in team playoff match

ELK GROVE — St. Francis High’s fall tennis run to an undefeated first-place finish in the Delta River League carried over to last week’s Singles/Doubles Tournament as the Troubadours enjoyed most of the success.

Both Oak Ridge and Ponderosa participated at the two-day event at Laguna Creek Racquet Club with mixed results. The Trojans will send their top singles player, Tori Trylovich, to the Brenda Athletic Club in Turlock this week for individual sections after the junior was runner-up in Super Singles.

Oak Ridge had a title win in No. 6 singles as Hannah Crookham topped the field. Troy also had finalists in No. 3 singles (Julia Lund); No. 4 singles (Rachel Librach); No. 1 doubles (Teja Chalamcherla-Miranda Miller); and No. 2 doubles (Gabby Ziegler-Alexis Hill).

The Bruins’ best showing came from their No. 3 doubles team, Marissa Peterson-Julia Guardino, who came in second.

The Trojans finished second in the Delta River League with a 7-3 record to earn a playoff spot as the No. 2 seed. Oak Ridge hosted Napa Tuesday at Broadstone Racquet Club.
