Camino’s Geoff Merker of Cuesta College was awarded the Warren Hansen Scholar-Athlete Award and will represent the school at the conference and state levels as a COA Pepsi Scholar Award nominee. Merker is a two-year member of the school’s wrestling program and helped lead the team to the SouthEast Conference title and to sixth at the CCCAA State Championships. Merker (197 pounds) posted a 19-16 record and place sixth at the state meet. He had a 3.68 GPA and is a two-time All Conference academic selection. He’ll attend Boise State this fall.

Latrobe’s Brian Doyle, a freshman-to-be this fall at Ponderosa, was selected to the 2014 USSSA 13U Northwest All American baseball team, consisting of players from Northern California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. The team plays an eight-team tournament July 31-Aug. 3 in Florida. Doyle played six seasons with Ponderosa Little League and currently plays for the 14U Prospects out of Shingle Springs and Cameron Park
